Anti-jimmying grooves
Special construction which will surely protect your door against breaking by means of "jimmying"

çàùèòà îò âçëîìàAccording to information of the Ministry of Internal Affairs 90% of burglaries are done by means of "jimmying" a door. It is a simple and widespread kind of door breaking which doesn't need any special knowledge. With the help of a forcer, crow-bar or lifting bar any strong enough person can open an average wooden door without problems. A narrow end of the tool is inserted into a gap between the door leaf and door frame, and a burglar "pushes back" the door (picture 1). Metal doors are more resistant, especially if a face door leaf covers the gap between the door and the frame. Professionals use forcers of special shape for such doors. If the door does not open, a lifting jack is used. Under pressure dead-bolts go out from the door frame and the door opens.

We developed locks of special construction which will surely protect your door against opening by means of "jimmying". There are special grooves on the dead-bolts of such locks, they block a door in the closed position. The way the dead-bolt is produced does not reduce its protective functions, furthermore, the lock works as usual (i.e. it can be opened with a key) even after a load of 1200 kg! This lock construction is patented (¹ N P-07-12). Locks with anti-jimmying grooves are sold only with lable BORDER. There are locks both for metal and for wooden doors in this series.

Work of the lock:

  1. In working position the movement of the dead-bolts does not differ from the ordinary one. The grooves do not contact the lock striker.
  2. During an attempt of breaking by means of "jimmying" the dead-bolts with grooves move forward and catch a metal door frame or striker.
  3. Now the fixed dead-bolts can't freely move in the door frame - during an unsuccessful breaking there appears a "zatsep" (catching) which prevents the dead-bolts from going out of the frame (or striker).
  4. Additional pressure only strengthens the "zatsep" effect.

Due to specific features of the "Zatsep" system only a qualified specialist must install locks into a door.
